Nissan already has two electric vehicles in production, the Altra EV and Hypermini, as well as a hybrid electric, Japan's Tino Hybrid.
Nissan also has the Sentra CA but as it is still purely petrol powered it isn't featured yet,  it does have good emission levels though so we will take a look at it soon, they have joined the California Fuel Cell Partnership which aims to place about 50 fuel cell passenger cars and fuel cell buses on the road between by 2003.

The Altra Electric Vehicle

The Altra EV is  a  4-passenger vehicle with a 75-mph maximum speed,  it has up to an 80-mile "real-world" range and a 5-hour recharge time.
Unlike most electric vehicles, the Altra EV uses lithium-ion batteries, the same power source used in notebook computers and video recorders. These batteries are lighter and have a greater energy density than lead-acid or nickel-metal hydride batteries and do not lose capacity if not completely discharged before recharging.

The Hypermini

The Hypermini is again powered by lithium-ion batteries.  It has an aluminum frame which is lighter and more rigid than a comparable steel body.
Many of the Hypermini's plastic raw materials are recycled from end-of-use vehicles, using a process that Nissan pioneered.  One nice feature is it's special tyres that let you drive up to 50 miles with a flat and it costs as little as 2-cents per mile to drive.

Nissan Tino Hybrid

Only available in limited numbers in Japan this is an interesting little car.  Another compact 4 seater, it is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.8L QG engine which results in about 100 horsepower and an AC motor which produces around an extra 22 horsepower.
